As You Like It
By William Shakespeare
Directed by James Bohnen
As Shakespearean comedies go, "As You Like It" is quite nearly perfect. It has such a good heart; such compassion for how messy it is to be human, that you’re ambushed by the comedy of it all. So much of this high-stakes yet shamelessly feel-good story can be placed at the feet of Rosalind – our transcendent heroine-come-hero-come-heroine again. Her radical goodness elevates those in her orbit, even as it puts her in harm’s way. Because people with power often keep it by quelling those who are special. Sometimes all it takes to beat them is a trip into the woods.

Just when you think politics has lost its sense of humor, in rides Billie Dawn ona breath of fresh air. So when her powerful, junk-peddling boyfriend sets out to buy a senator, he decides his girl should be a little less Vegas and a little more DC, striking the f lint that sets her mind ablaze. Billie may be the new kid in class, but she’s nobody’s fool. She’s simply her glorious self, whether she’s reading Dickens or wrapping men around her dazzling little finger. A hilarious and uniquely American comedy.

The Recruiting Officer
By George Farquhar
Directed by William Brown
You’re not going to want to let this one sail by – a hearty comedy with a wicked streak, crewed by the kind of impish characters our players can melt right into. Whether they’re attempting to fill their boats or their beds, these recruiters will need to apply some hefty truth-stretching to their deal-closing. If you were to think it’s all a little shady, you’d be absolutely right. But it’s also sexy and hilarious, with a surprising thoughtful side. There are real people to be found hiding behind all that ridiculous ego. It’s only in disguise that their shields begin to slip. It may just inspire us to drop our own.

Heartbreak House
By George Bernard Shaw
Adapted & Directed by Aaron Posner
The Shotover family is so devastatingly fascinating, their lives a veritable who’s who of the elite. They’re all so in love. Mostly with themselves. And all so much more damaged than they care to admit. Not that they’ll let that put a pin in their party. They’re a dramatic lot, and a few bombshells are sure to drop before the night is through. George Bernard Shaw had a remarkable skill for dressing up serious social issues in lively banter and sex appeal. It’s been a few years since he’s visited the Hill, but he’s more than worth the wait.

Measure for Measure
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Risa Brainin
For your consideration, we offer this rare Shakespearean puzzle, imbued with timeless questions about morality and power designed to set the mind whirring. At its soul lives Isabella, perched atop a pillar of impenetrable virtue, and surrounded by a city steeped in debauchery. A wolf in judge’s clothing has been left to guard the flock, and life-and-death choices must be made to keep this wolf at bay. In such a climate, even the righteous aren’t without sin. A complex and powerful look at the battle to be our best selves.
